Lighting for two hours and shooting for five minutes. Everyone may have had such similar experience.

How to realize and quickly switch among 5 different lighting effects in a 6-minutes performance becomes a difficulty of this subject.

In the early stage, we chose lights with DMX function. Each light was placed in advance and controlled by DMX console in real time.

This time the lights supporting DMX function that we used are 600D, 600X, HS-50, HS-70.

Finally a wonderful stage performance was presented, making the exhibition not only an aimlessly stroll, but also an interesting technical discussion.

Lighting ideas and behind the scenes

Scene 1: They met for first time, having candlelight dinner.

Lighting idea 1:

The warm moonlight comes in from outside the window. Make the indoor a dark tone, creating a dim and comfortable lighting effect.

Behind the scenes 1:

Here we used two light panels, to light two characters separately, using egg crate to control the light. Adjust the light to tungsten, creating a dim and lovely lighting effect.

Scene 2: They became lovers, having breakfast together.

Lighting idea 2:

The morning sunshine comes in from outside the window. Make the indoor a bright tone, creating a fresh and high-key lighting effect.

Behind the scenes 2:

We used a bi-color LED spot light 600X to light the background. Adjusted the light to a tungsten color and equipped with a standard reflector, to create a fresh and high-key lighting effect. A 600D installed with a lantern softbox was used to brighten the weak ambient light.

Scene 3: They became quarrelsome when they step into their 7th year of marriage.

Lighting idea 3:

The sun outside the window is dazzling, and the interior is darkened, creating a high-contrast lighting effect.

Behind the scenes 3:

They are quarreling. Here we adjusted the two light panels to a neutral color temperature to brighten the two people separately. Making the background dark to create a high contrast to show the scene of the conflict between the two.

Scene 4: The house is gloomy, and she is lonely.

Lighting idea 4:

The cold moonlight comes in outside the window, and the interior is darkened, creating a gloomy lighting effect.

Behind the scenes 4:

Here, HS-70 was used to produce a cool background light and the egg grid was also used to control the light.

Scene 5: She fell asleep and they are loving each other as ever in her dreams.

Lighting idea 5:

The warm moonlight spilled in from outside the window, and the indoor lighting became red and ambiguous, creating a romantic lighting effect.

Behind the scenes 5:

Thanks to the full colors of the RGB flat light. We used its blue and violet light to create an unreal dreamy environment.
